Brought my gold watch in as clasp was broken. The wonderful Hugo took it out the back to look at what was needed, then brought it back in next to no time all mended and didn’t even charge me. Fantastic in every way. Thank you Hugo.

We cannot sing Richard and his team at RTFJ’s praises enough. Unfortunately, due to arthritis my husband had to have his wedding ring of over 33 years removed. Although my wedding ring needed resizing down, there was not enough gold available to enlarge my husbands, so we used gold that we had, that was sentimental to us. After a long chat with Richard, we decided to merge both our rings with the additional gold and to make us both new rings. Richard was very patient and understanding with us when we explained that we wanted the new rings to be the same style and band dimensions as the originals. That we didn’t want new weddings rings, that we just wanted a slightly updated version of the old ones. He seemed to instinctively understand our wishes, and nothing was too much trouble We were able to watch Richard melting the golds together and so we could be confident of the metal used. Several hours and fittings later we were both the very proud wearers of our updated wedding rings.
This is the 3rd commission we have entrusted Richard and his team with and we would have no hesitation in recommending them or using them again. Richard has so much respect and empathy for you that the whole process from start to finish is a pleasure.

I took my Mum’s wedding ring had to be cut off many years ago on a foreign holiday and needed expert, professional and a jewellery specialist to repair to repair this very sentimental piece of jewellery.

After seeing Richard at RTFJ on the Repair shop, she felt this person had been identified for this task and we were never at any stage disappointed.

We booked the appointment online last year and drove the 70 miles to see him one evening in January-25 at his West Sussex workshop and can honestly say we were taken aback with the advice and workmanship he dedicated to bring this ring back to its former glory.

We will not hesitate to recommend him to anyone that needs that ‘expert touch’ for jewellery repairs or if you want something bespoke made up.

Earlier in the year Richard did an amazing job of re sizing my late mother’s engagement ring, using part of her wedding ring, so that I could wear it. So, when Paul and I decided we wanted something special to symbolise our married life together we had no hesitation in contacting Richard.

We briefly outlined to Richard our thoughts on having two matching pendants that not only reflected our past 33 years together but also had a nod to the future. After an exchange of ideas, he seemed to intuitively know exactly what we wanted. He was able to use several pieces of our own yellow gold jewellery that held a lot of meaning for us for the main body of the pendant. Hugo did an absolutely amazing job of texturing the surface to reflect the bumpy road that real life is. This Richard coupled with a smooth bail of new rose gold to represent our future.
The finished pendants were far and away beyond our expectations. Words cannot begin to express how blown away we are.

As well as being the total professional, there is a very human side to Richard which comes through when he is dealing with you. You are made to feel that you and your commission is very special.
He brews a pretty good cup of coffee as well!

Visited Richard to discuss a new bangle made from my families broken gold. Richard was an absolute pleasure to meet, very helpful and such a kind person. The bangle is absolutely perfect and I will cherish it. We can’t thank him enough.

Richard was absolutely fantastic, my wife has been unable to wear her wedding ring set, due cancer treatments making her fingers swell, Richard was brilliant, my wife’s rings were resized within one hour, the finish and end result was amazing. This was a very intricate repair involving a victorian diamond brooch which necessitated Richard sourcing specialist tools, and a huge amount of patience. I think any one else would have just said it was too difficult! He has repaired it so beautifully, I am thrilled. I cannot recommend him highly enough – he is a true craftsman and took so much time to make this perfect.

I had a ring that needed resizing. Whereas local reputable jewellers were reluctant to touch it saying it was a risk, Richard was confident he could do the work. He is really friendly, professional and puts you at ease. He took time to explain what the problem was and what he would do to fix it. My ring now fits perfectly and I cannot recommend him or his work enough.
